Bush Camping with Fires at Murphys Creek Escape

Sitting around the campfire having a yarn and a beverage is one of the truly special aspects of bush camping. All of our sites now have inground fire pits. Fires are welcome unless a Fire Ban is in place during your visit. We prefer you use our firepits. Any other pits must be on legs (sit off the ground) and ash placed into our firepits on departure.

Unique Eco Billabong

A naturally designed water feature created to support the local environment and enhance the campground’s connection to nature.

The billabong operates without chemicals, relying instead on natural filtration through plants, rocks and biological processes to keep the water healthy and balanced year-round.

This approach encourages native birds, insects and small aquatic organisms to thrive, creating a living ecosystem within the grounds. Over time, the Eco Billabong will continue to mature as a natural habitat, contributing to biodiversity and offering guests a peaceful, authentic bush setting that reflects the beauty of South East Queensland.

Kids School Holidays

If you are looking for a family fun getaway on kids school holidays, we have you covered. With plenty of onsite activities and room to explore for the kids. Your kids will have an amazing camping experience these school holidays. We book out early for school holiday periods and long weekends. Be sure to book ahead to secure the dates and campsites you prefer.

Murphy’s Creek Escape has plenty of activities available for all campers and especially the kids. Whether you are into adventure or simply relaxing with a drink around a BBQ there is plenty to do for any age group. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming, archery, a ropes course, the giant swing and school holiday activities will keep you active and entertained. So why not book a camping trip and experience the natural beauty of bush camping near Toowoomba.

The “beach” is a large swimming hole with a large sandy play space bordered on two sides by spectacular canyon walls.

Offering over 2 kilometres of riding in a giant loop, the track has been given the thumbs up from expert mountain bikers.

Pet-friendly / Dog-Friendly Campgrounds

At Murphys Creek Escape we love animals! Caring for our native wildlife is very important to us, but we still love to welcome your pets at our campground. We have had dogs, guinea pigs, horses, cats, birds and even goats come to stay with us. Why should the family pet miss out on the adventure?

All animals brought onto the premises must be booked in and declared to reception staff upon arrival. We charge additional fees for dogs and horses).

We place great emphasis on the welfare and behaviour of animals while they are staying in our park. As a pet owner, it is your responsibility to ensure the welfare of your pet, our guests AND our wildlife. We expect you to be familiar with the conditions of our pet policy and comply with this at all times. This includes keeping your pet under your safe control (leashed, crated or fenced), cleaning up after them, providing for them (water and food), not leaving them unattended on site and ensuring they do not disturb or harm other guests, pets or wildlife within the park.

Caravan Park

If you are looking for an affordable caravan park near Toowoomba or Brisbane, then consider Murphys Creek Escape as one of your options. This place is ideal for getting away for a quiet few nights through the week. Just have to check your height as their is a low bridge coming under the highway. Note* The height of the bridge is "signposted 3.4 metres; measured 3.7 metres"

Are you backpacking around Australia and looking for a traditional bush camping experience? Then Murphys Creek Escape is your perfect tourist camping grounds. You will be safe at night from all the wild animals but yet able to experience the best of Australia’s wildlife during the day. You will be able to parkup your 4WD camper and spend a week hiking, bird watching and camping under the stars. Bring your cameras and pile in all your back packing friends. We are very welcoming to all international backpackers and can provide advice on the best local attractions to explore.

Great place to stay relax.

The place is big, great for family and friends get together. The creek was running very well so was very relaxing sitting and listening to the running water with nature. The amenities are dated but are clean. At 4 p.m., they feed the lorikeets, which is great for kids and adults too. Good large fire pits. Great place to stay relax.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay over the school holidays. The view from the canyon top site was superb. The park was well kept and the amenities were great. The hottest shower I have every had at a camping park 👌 The kids had the best time with the well organised activities and loved the medium rope course. Will definitely be back again!

What a great find so close to Brisbane, Gold Coast.

What a great find so close to Brisbane, Gold Coast. Secluded, quiet (apart from the occasional train). Beautiful birds and so many varieties. The creek is beautiful and our first siting of a snake on our travels. The powered campsite 3 was a real treat. Nice fire last night, plenty of stars just peaceful. Highly recommended.
