Murphy's Creek Escape Owners

In August 2019, Alberta Western and her children (Ari, Finn and Ivy) took over the ownership and management of Murphy’s Creek Escape. Alberta has a background in social work, having worked in multiple settings over the last 25 years. A passion for 4WDing, camping and the great Australian bush, combined with a desire for a healthier lifestyle, led to the decision to purchase Murphy’s Creek Escape.

As a single mum to two active boys, our holidays were always camping. I couldn’t afford to stay at resorts or apartments near the beach and didn’t like the idea of keeping two boys quiet and entertained in enclosed spaces anyway. Camping allowed me to dedicate time to my relationship with my children. Days and nights spent playing together, talking and exploring. We often camped with friends who I now consider family and the tradition continued when my daughter was born. My favourite memories mostly revolve around camping. My hope is to provide a space that allows similar experiences for other families.

Alberta’s current goals for Murphy’s Creek Escape are:

To offer an engaging school holiday program that draws families to MCE and encourages technology free fun;

To provide a space where people can spend time in a natural environment to promote positive wellbeing and provide the opportunity for reconnection amongst family and friends;
