Let’s break down the options so you can choose what suits your camping style best.
Bush camping (unpowered sites): For the true nature lovers
…or those with caravans, of course! If you love the idea of waking up to the sounds of the bush, cooking over an open fire and switching off from the modern world, then unpowered camping is for you.
And, obviously, if you’re coming to us in a camper trailer or caravan with its own power source, you’ll be right at home in our unpowered bushland sites.
Why choose unpowered sites?
- They’re extra secluded and peaceful: More space, fewer people, and a true Australian bush vibe.
- You can disconnect to reconnect: No power means less screen time and more quality time with friends, family, or simply with yourself.
- They’re perfect for tent campers and swags: Embrace the traditional camping experience and get hands-on with pitching your tent from the ground up…literally!
- Unpowered sites are budget-friendly: A great way to experience the outdoors at a lower cost per person.
Best for: Experienced campers, adventure seekers, couples, and those who love a back-to-basics experience.
Things to consider:
- You’ll need to bring a good power bank or solar charger if you want to keep devices going.
- Campfires are allowed (season permitting), so bring your marshmallows.
- No power means you’ll need to be fully self-sufficient with lighting, cooking and food.
Powered sites: Comfy convenience with all the fun
The short answer: added ease and convenience. Our powered sites, which include the premium Canyon Top site, can be a more comfortable option for those who prefer power and water supplies.
But don’t worry; you’ll still get all the wonders of being immersed in nature as these sites are situated amongst the tall gums, iron barks and native birds of Murphys Creek Escape.
Why opt for powered sites?
- Power is available for running fridges, lights and charging devices.
- They’re ideal for caravans and camper trailers that need to be hooked up to a power block.
- Powered sites are best for new campers or those with less experience.
- They can be more family-friendly if you’re travelling with tiny tots, kids who aren’t as comfortable or familiar with tent camping yet, or teens who would seriously perish if they didn’t have access to power for a whole weekend.
Best for: Families, first-time or newer campers and those who like a little extra comfort.
Things to consider:
- Each site is designed for one set up, not multiple families.
- If you’re camping in a tent but want access to power, bring an extension cord to run to your setup.
- Fees per person are slightly higher than our unpowered sites.
