Bush Camping QLD
What is bush camping?
As a full-service camping area, Murphy’s Creek Escape bush camping includes unpowered sites that are scattered in between tall trees and native plants. Generous in size, you can choose between a spot on top of the Canyon, hidden in the bushland, or a more remote location. These sites also offer the flexibility for you to set up your camp in a way that suits your family needs.
You can sprawl out across your allocated space with tents, tarps and tables, or you can opt for a more compact arrangement. These sites are simple and spacious, making them a great opportunity to reconnect with your family and spend some quality time together! You can read more about our bush camping options here.
Murphy’s Creek Bush Camping near Brisbane and Toowoomba
What a way to wake up! Bush camping in Queensland is about as close as you can get to nature, and it’s a pretty special experience! The bush camping sites at Murphy’s Creek Escape are situated in a range of different locations, each bringing their own unique benefits. Whichever location you choose, you will be treated to natural flora and glimpses of fauna. The dramatic views are a beautiful sight to start your day, and the star-blanketed skies are perfect for unwinding after a big day of adventures. These sites are suitable for camper trailers, caravans, camper vans, tents and swags.
Murphy’s Creek bush camping is also ideal if you’re heading away with a group of friends or the extended family and don’t want to drive to far from Brisbane or Toowoomba. We have special sites (Spoke Sites) which are built to house groups of family and friends in your own area. Like a wheel, these have camping spots around the outside, and a central area for communal spaces. Each of these have a built in firepit.
We want to preserve this beautiful sanctuary, so remember to take only photos and leave only footprints!
Remote camping near Brisbane and Toowoomba
Our remote sites are accessible by 4×4 and only very experienced drivers with suitable vehicles would be able to reach these sites. Note: We don’t allow anyone to tow anything up this hill.
When you’re out on these remote sites, you’ll feel like the only group of people on earth! Without any neighbours around, you’ll be treated to the serenity of birds chirping, the breeze whistling and the trees swaying. It’s our favourite tune!
This beautiful setting allows you to really switch off and embrace the beautiful landscape. But, the nature of getting away from more popular areas means there are fewer nearby amenities. With a little forward-planning and carefully packing, you won’t even notice these facilities missing from your life.
Rope and Duct Tape
A rope is a handy item to throw into your bag when you’re packing, as it can be used for a variety of different purposes. From extra tent support to helping with your tarp set up, a sturdy rope will be your new best friend! Duct tape is also a valuable item to pack as it has so many uses! Broken poles, holes in tents and even old shoes, there’s nothing a bit of duct tape can’t fix!
Dirty Laundry
When you spend your days hiking, mountain biking or collecting wood for the campfire, your clothes will get pretty dirty, pretty quickly! Remember to bring along some washing detergent so that you don’t smell like yesterday’s insect repellent all weekend. You can also bring a rope and pegs to hang your clothes to dry at your camp.
Layers
Even when it’s blue skies and sunny all day, it can get pretty chilly at night in the bush! A great way to keep the cold at bay is to layer up – that means you and your tent! You can keep your tent nice and toasty by tying a tarp down over it. The tarp will act as an insulator, keeping the warmth inside and the cold outside. We recommend bringing plenty of layers for you and the kids too. There is no better feeling than rugging up in a nice warm jumper by the fire!
