The hottest new attraction of the summer is here!! This astonishing wildlife feature will be home to thousands of beautiful birds and frogs. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, this new site will also welcome hundreds of families, backpacking campers and tourists for a true-blue Traditional Aussie camping experience. 

Introducing the Murphy’s Creek Escape Eco Billabong 

Based at the foot of the Toowoomba Range, we’re blessed to live in a pretty spectacular part of the world. Our little slice of Australia is brimming with beautiful views, rugged countryside, lush greenery and an abundance of wildlife. We realise how lucky we are to call this place our own and we want to share it with people from all walks of life – but we want to protect the environment too!

Conventional chlorinated pools are always a hit with the kids, but they’re not quite as good for local flora and fauna. In fact, the chlorine and other chemicals used in regular pools can poison wildlife, kill off plants and contaminate the soil – and these effects last long after the pool is gone. 

But that’s where our new Eco Billabong is different. It only takes one look at the natural swimming pool to see how great it is for the environment. That’s because it uses a wetlands filtration system that relies on rocks, plants and fish to filter the water back to its pristine best. This natural system helps us look after the local wildlife and attracts everything from reptiles and frogs to bees and birds. And on top of that? It’s the perfect place to take a dip after a day of fun in the sun. 

Cool off in the summer 

Keeping the kids entertained is a total breeze when you’re at Murphy’s Creek Escape. Our site is practically one big playground, with outdoor adventures for every kid – and the adult kids too! You can spend your days exploring our beautiful landscape, mountain biking or you can try your hand at archery or test your nerves on The Giant Swing or our abseiling tower. 

Get up close and personal with the local wildlife

Coming to a camp near you this summer, our Eco Billabong is the place to be if you want to spot a vast variety of wildlife. This neighbourhood of cute, furry, scaley, fuzzy and unique animals is already what makes people from across the globe flock to our backyard but it’s not always as easy to find the animals as you may think. Many of these animals are scared off by loud noises, man-made structures or any interference. 

That’s not the case with our new Eco Billabong! By giving our local wildlife a safe, clean and comfortable space to move around, they’re more likely to spend more time around the site. As we put the final touches on the pool, we expect to see more and more animals hanging around our grounds as they will now have a constant water source.  Just dive into the pool, relax and see what you can spot both in the pool and in it’s surrounds. 

For an added layer of protection, we also provide reef safe sunscreen at cost price in our on-site shop. Standard sunscreen is filled with chemicals and preservatives that kill off fish and plants, as well as ruin the water clarity and leech into our environment. By wearing reef safe, zinc based sunscreen, we can protect our beautiful environment, one swim at a time. 

 

Child Friendly

Whether it’s a quick spin or an all-day adventure, you’re bound to have plenty of fun out in the sun. But when you add in the year-round sunny weather that we have in the Upper Lockyer Valley, you’re probably going to work up a bit of a sweat! During the peak of the Summer, you won’t even need to get your body moving before you start warming up and breaking a sweat too 

Our new Eco Billabong isn’t just a thriving mecca for local wildlife; it’s also a great place to cool off. The natural materials used during its construction mean it is always the perfect temperature, and never gets too warm.  Large trees provide shade for only some of the day, so don’t forget to bring your reef safe, zinc-based sunscreen.

A natural eco swimming pool 

When we set our mind to building the Eco Billabong, we knew that we wanted it to be something pretty special. To ensure we could bring our dream to life, we partnered with the best in the business – Queensland-based builders, Eco Billabongs. This team lives and breathes all things natural pools and ponds, which meant they had plenty of creative ideas to add to our vision. They’ve also worked on some major projects across the state, including a specially designed pool for the Woodford Folk Festival, which was a massive hit with the festival-goers. 

We joined forces with Eco Billabong to build a pool that looks like the typical rock pool you’d find in the bush or rainforest, and that would work in harmony with its surroundings – creating a unique paradise for our guest. And it’s looking pretty epic if we do say so ourselves.

Murphy’s Creek Escape is only 90 minutes from Brisbane and 30 minutes from Toowoomba, so we’re in an ideal location for day trips, weekends away or week-long holidays.
