Nature retreat for NDIS Participants
Helping NDIS participants get back to Nature, relax, recuperate, develop new skills and identify new passions. Murphys Creek Escape provides an authentic Australian bush experience with plenty to do and see. We cater for a range of guests needs.
Activities:
- Paddock meditations and Setting Boundaries workshop with a qualified Equine Therapist;
- Animal Feeding – Meeting the wild lorikeets, cuddling the guinea pigs, making friends with the miniature goats.
- Adventure Activities (Giant Swing and Archery);
- Cooking Class – Preparing and cooking a campfire dinner including roasts, vegetables, S’mores and Damper;
- Painting Class – Creative sessions (painting, art); Identifying personal positive affirmations;
- Daily Thai Chi sessions;
- Mindfulness activities including bush walking, looking for wildlife and an exploration of our property;
- Meditation;
- Breath work and breathing exercises;
- Swimming in our unique Eco-pool, and
Costing $2,090+GST for NDIS participants / $300+GST support worker.

DAY 1
- Arrive on site and settle into accommodation from 3PM
- 6PM meet the other participants and enjoy a meal together
- 830PM return to accommodation for the evening
Day 2
- 8AM Breakfast
- 9AM -12.30 Guest led activities which may include art, bushwalking, adventure activities, swimming, breathwork, meditations, making morning tea
- 12.30PM Lunch – picnic in the bush or by the creek
- 1.30 PM Equine therapy paddock session
- 3.30 Afternoon tea
- 4.00 Meet the locals (feed the birds, meet the goats, cuddle the guinea pigs, collect the eggs, birdwatching and photography)
- 6.00 Dinner and games night
Day 3
- 8AM Breakfast
- 9AM -12.30 Guest led activities which may include art, bushwalking, adventure activities, swimming, breathwork, meditations, making morning tea
- 12.30PM Lunch
- 1.30 PM Campfire cooking session
- 3.30 Afternoon tea
- 4.00 Meet the locals (feed the birds, meet the goats, cuddle the guinea pigs, collect the eggs, birdwatching and photography)
- 6.00 Dinner and nighttime sky session
Day 4
- 8AM Breakfast
- 9AM -12.30 Guest led activities which may include art, bushwalking, adventure activities, swimming, breathwork, meditations, and making morning tea.
- 12.30PM Lunch – picnic in the bush or by the creek
- 1.30PM reflections and personal affirmations session
- 2.30PM return to accommodation to pack up and enjoy some social or quiet time whilst preparing to leave.
- 4PM departure
What’s included?
- All meals included.
- A luxury glamping tent for each guest. Tents are private and include a full ensuite.
- Support workers will be accommodated using our range of hire equipment options. This will be determined by the proximity required to the participant.
- Wheelchair/Mobility Aids accessible luxury glamping tent available.
- Involvement in all activities and access to all facilities at Murphys Creek Escape.
- Creation of unforgettable memories.
What’s not included?
- We do not provide personal care support for guests.
- We do not provide supervision overnight or during free time.
- We do not provide transport to or from Murphys Creek Escape.

How do I book?

How many people will be on each retreat?
There will be a maximum of 6 participants per retreat.
How old do I have to be?
Minimum age for participation in our retreats is 18 years.
How do I get to Murphys Creek Escape?
You will need to organise your own transport to and from Murphys Creek Escape. Our address is 356 Thomas Road, Upper Lockyer.
What do I need to bring with me when I visit Murphys Creek Escape?
We suggest you bring whatever you need to make you feel comfortable in a different environment. If you are coming in the warmer months bring your togs and a swimming towel so you can enjoy our creek (seasonal) or Ecopool). You will need enclosed,comfortable walking shoes and a sense of adventure. You won’t need to bring any extra bedding or towels as these are provided for you. Your support worker, if coming, may need to bring their own pillow, sheets and blankets.
What if I have special dietary requirements?
A food preferences form will be sent to all participants so you can let us know of any special requirements as well as your likes and dislikes.
Do I have to pay up front or pay a deposit, to secure a spot?
We will require a $500 deposit to secure your spot on our retreats. The remainder is payable after the retreat.
How can I access my NDIS Plan to participate in Murphys Creek Escape’s Nature Retreat for NDIS Participants?
You will need to have a NDIS plan that is self managed or plan managed to access our retreats. Please make sure you check with your plan manager before registering for our retreats to ensure the service we offer is covered by your plan.
What if I don’t like it, have too much, or want to go home?
If you are feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable please talk to your support worker and/or the retreat facilitator so you can all work out what to do next. Should you want to leave you are welcome to contact the local camp staff and let them know and everything should be fine. Unfortunately, we don’t offer refunds if you choose to leave early.
Where can you buy food?
You are best getting food from the local Withcott grocery store only a 15 minute drive down the road. You can get all your meat and vegetables you need in town.
