Keeping the kids entertained is no easy job! In between cooking dinners, doing the laundry and managing your full-time work, it seems like you’ve always got something on your to-do list – and that’s before you even add in keeping your kids busy! When school holidays and family trips roll around, the challenge only gets trickier. It’s no longer just the weekends that need to be filled with adventures, you’ve got the weekdays as well! Wouldn’t it be nice to have something fun and exciting, that allows you to switch off and recharge, but also give your children plenty to do? There’s only so many times we can listen to the complaint “I’m bored”.

Well, you’ve come to the right place! Murphy’s Creek Escape is practically one big playground, with outdoor adventures for every kid, including the adult-kids too!

Murphy’s Creek Escape Outdoor Adventures

When Murphy’s Creek Escape first opened its doors in the mid-1980s, the property was a lush and wild green space. In the years since then, the entire area has undergone a complete transformation to become a mecca for action-packed fun. We have so many options on offer that we could talk about it all day long! But we’d rather you experience the fun for yourself! To get you excited for your stay at Murphy’s Creek Escape, here are a few of our favourite outdoor adventures for the kids:

The Giant Swing

The Giant Swing is the ultimate heart-pounding activity. After being harnessed in and pulled metres above the ground, your nerves will be sitting at an all-time high! Try not to look down, because it’s a long way back down to earth! But once the rip-cord is pulled and you’re flying through the air over the canyon, it’ll all be worth it! The adrenaline rush will stay with you for hours afterwards.

Hiking

Convincing the kids to go for a walk when you’re at home is probably a bit of a challenge, but after a hike in the Upper Lockyer region, they’ll practically be begging for more! Once you’re geared up with water bottles at the ready, there are more than 100,000 acres of National Park to explore!! The vast expanse of land is brimming with amazing wildlife and beautiful greenery. It’s so wild and fun that you’ll probably feel like you’ve walked onto the set of a Hollywood blockbuster! You’re the stars of this show though, so you can opt for just a short walk or a long and strenuous hike. Whichever option you choose, you’re guaranteed an award-winning show! Feeling less adventurous? You can stroll around our 50 acre campground and walk along the creek bed before returning for a much needed rest, drink and swim.

Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking is a great activity to get the entire family involved. This popular activity doesn’t require high levels of fitness of endurance, so even the little ones can tag along. There are flat and open trails, as well as advanced and strenuous options. You can make your decision based on how energetic the kids are feeling on the day! Whether it’s a quick spin or an all-day adventure, this activity will develop resilience, confidence and teamwork – which are skills your child can carry throughout their life!

Swimming

Our Ecopool means you can now always cool down at Murphy’s Creek Escape. Our campgrounds is located on the banks of Murphy’s Creek which relies on rainfall so we can’t guarantee you will find it flowing when you visit. When it does flow the creek provides a multitude of places to swim, splash and play. The “beach” is a large swimming hole with a large sandy play space bordered on two sides by spectacular canyon walls. Wet or dry, our creek/crteek bed provides hours of entertainment.

Our Facebook page is the best place to get up to date information on the creek conditions. If in doubt at time of booking, ask reception. NP Due to the rocky nature of our creek, it is not generally suitable for kayaking or canoeing.

Archery

It’s likely an activity your kids are familiar with from medieval movies or cartoons, but archery is probably not something they’ve actually tried their hand at! Over the weekends and during school holidays, we have experienced instructors on-site to teach your kids the ins and outs of scoring a bulls-eye! We take a patient and flexible approach to these lessons, ensuring every kid leaves with an understanding of the sport and a systematic approach that they can apply to their everyday lives!

Murphy’s Creek Escape

While we have plenty of outdoor adventures for the kids, Murphy’s Creek Escape is also a place for the whole family to switch off and relax. After a busy day of exploring the surrounding region, you can gather the kids at the campsite for some quality time together. You can share stories by the campfire, play board games, birdwatch from your tent or toast marshmallows. We have plenty of different sites to choose from throughout the property, catering to every need and budget.

Being just 90 minutes from Brisbane and 30 minutes from Toowoomba, there are also a string of nearby attractions that are ideal for day trips. One of the best parts of camping is that you aren’t left stranded either! Once you’ve unpacked the car and set up your caravan or tent, you’ve got a set of wheels to get you to just about anywhere.
