With that being said, let’s have a look at some of the equipment and toolsΒ that will make your camping kitchen set up complete. Nothing better then having a good bush camping kitchen to whip up some bush tucker.
Camping Stove
Having a stand alone stove set up makes cooking for the family more efficient as you wonβt have to wait for the campfire to completely go out before you go to bed or continue with your activities. There are so many different camping stove models and options it can be confusing trying to find the right one. Out of all the ones available, the classic 2 burner propane stove is normally the best option for most campers. They are versatile, allowed almost everywhere and they use widely available fuel. The best overall propane stove is the Coleman Classic.Β It is well built, sturdy and long lasting. Cook your breakfast, lunch or dinner without a fuss, just light it up and you are ready to go. Other great camping stove options include Eureka Ignite+, Camp Chef Mountaineer, Original FireDisc Portable Propane cooker, Camp Chef Everest and so on.
Invest in cooking utensils and accessories
Without the necessary cooking utensils, preparing your dishes might be challenging. The basic cooking utensils you will need include cooking pots, knives, chopping boards, spatula, wooden spoons, serving spoons, can opener, grater, tongs, whisks, paper towels, zip lock bags and so on. Donβt forget your spices, salt, oil and napkins as well. As much as there are plenty of cooking utensils in the market, some are usually cheaply made and they wonβt serve you for a long time. You will need to do your research and find out what the best utensils are for campers. For items such as spatulas, tongs or wooden spoons, you can easily grab a few of those from your home kitchen to save on costs as well. Though if you want to create a camp specific utensil plan, you can consider a specialized camping utensil kit. Many of the utensils found in the kit are multipurpose or have dual ends providing two utensils in one tool.
When it comes to dishes, make sure you bring with you lightweight cutlery like plates, bowls, forks, spoons, mugs and so on. Some of these items can be used for several purposes to cut down on the utensils you bring along with you. Also utensils that come in 3-in-1 combos are perfect for camping.
Camping coffee maker
For the campers who love a good cup of coffee in the morning before getting on with their day, there are a number of different supplies available that can help you brew amazing coffee while outdoors. Depending on how you like your coffee, you may need to bring different coffee supplies with you. These supplies include travel coffee grinders, camping espresso makers and camping coffee percolators. Some of the best camping coffee makers include AeroPress Coffee Maker, Primula Coffee Brew Buddy, Hario Plastic Coffee Dripper V60, ESPRO P1 Coffee Press and so on.
Camping table and chairs
Some campgrounds tend to supply campers with picnic tables but it would be a good idea to bring your own sturdy foldable table that can work as a cooking and serving area. Alternatively, if the camping site provides a picnic table, you could use it for meal times. Use your camping standard collapsible camping chairs for meal time.
Washing station
To keep bugs and other wild animals away, you need to have a sanitation area where you can clean up before and after meals. Some of the items you will need for this area include a wash basin, table cloth, biodegradable soap, scouring pad/sponge and a drying rack to put your utensils. Bringing your own wash basin will save you time from having to wait for your turn at the communal sinks. In addition, you could also carry your own water or have ways in which you will filter out your own water. Using a biodegradable soap ensures that you are being environmentally friendly and you arenβt leaving any traces of your stay behind. Once you are done cleaning up, ensure you store your cleaning tools in a plastic odor free container or bag.
Storage Area
You can store your food in different places such as coolers, tupperware airtight containers or even zip lock bags for things like snacks. When cooking, chances are you may have some leftover food so instead of wasting it you can store them up for the next day. If you have any perishable foods, you should store them in a cooler to keep them fresh. You could also purchase a folding table that has storage compartments where you can store your dishes, cooking utensils or cutlery.
Disposal Area
Ensure you have with you garbage bags where you can dispose of all your litter until you reach a camping area with dumpsters. When looking for garbage bags, opt for odor neutralizing ones to minimize the scent of food coming from your food waste. Before disposing any of your garbage, ensure you read the signage of what you can and canβt dispose. Please remember the campsite is full over 100’s of native birds and animals so it is highly important to clean up after yourself. Taking 5 minutes to ensure you have collected all your plastics and have left nothing behind that can be of harm to the local animals will ensure the place stays clean for other people to enjoy who are visiting the park.
